My Philosophy

Growing up in a low-income home with immigrant parents, I rarely participated in recreational activities due to financial circumstances. I was also not familiar with the world of Recreational Therapy because of my living situation. This however changed when I became a student at Texas State University and volunteered at events that promoted recreation. From all the exposure I started to receive,  it made me love recreation and how it can impact people in a positive way. As a result, I have volunteered at various agencies and programs that allowed me to work with different populations. This has led me to my passion of encouraging people to engage in purposeful activities that will bring pure enjoyment and create connections with others while being easily accessible to all. I want to create a safe space in low-income communities where I can provide my services to every individual so they may participate in positive experiences no matter their financial situation. I believe we each have the right to have a meaningful leisure lifestyle and I want to make it my responsibility to help people overcome their barriers and reach their goals.
